“33 1/3 Revolutions per Monkee” is a rare, 1969 NBC TV special that is quite possibly one of the most bizarre shows to have ever aired on network television. It features the Monkees and a star-studded cast getting super weird and wonderful! The featured guests/evil-doers/musical freaks, Julie Driscoll and Brian Auger with The Trinity are so wickedly fuzzed out. The greatest thing about the Monkees is that they grew out of the manufactured TV boy band mold and rode the creative wave of the late 1960’s to blossom into a band that pushed the envelope over the edge into a million mind-melting fragments. If you haven’t yet, check out the Monkees film “Head” and the accompanying soundtrack. You will not be disappointed one lysergic drop.
