Hosted by Los Angeles-based DJ and journalist Chris Kissel, the monthly dublab program Contact Wave enthusiastically celebrates the best experimental, avant-garde, psychedelic, and off-the-grid music crafted in L.A. and beyond.
This weeks guest is Atlantic Rhythms, a Washington, DC-based label releasing deep, contemporary music on limited-run vinyl and cassettes. Since 2015, the label has focused on finding adventurous sounds and pairing them with unique abstract color patterns. Its catalog has quickly evolved in five years to include avant-garde explorers Blacks’ Myths, Six Six, Arto Lindsay, and Sam Hillmer; contemporary composers Evan Zierk and Iku Sakan; and intrepid experimental producers Cofaxx, Amy Reid, and Jack Propane.
This mix features tracks from the ambient side of the Atlantic Rhythms catalog and features new and unreleased music from Amy Reid, Six Six, Anthony Pirog, Carlos Ferreira, Ki Oni, Dura, Sean Peoples, and Gus Callahan. Expect waves of sound, field recordings, peaceful improvisation, and kaleidoscopic composition.
