Version Sounds is an interpretation of radio communication. At its roots, the show credits reggae dub for adding so much to the music we listen to today. From there the branches continue to sprout via a myriad of genres and time spans. Colombian cumbias meet Germanic techno dub meets British twee pop. Stereolab and Sun Ra lounge around as Stars of the Lid jam with Prince Jammy. You never know what to expect but you are guaranteed that the now sounds of 2021 will have a toast with the happening sonics of 1968 and beyond!

emmabeat is a record collector and selector currently based in Chula Vista, CA–the South Bay. Born in Veracruz, MX with Salvadoran roots and raised in LA, she has a keen ear for Latin and tropical rhythms, which stems from listening to her parents’ music during her childhood. She specializes in 60-70s records of funk, soul, rock, boogaloo, cumbia, chicha, and beyond from Latin America and its diaspora. Her goal is to uplift and share these artists’ music at any opportunity she is offered. In her spare time, she geeks out and crafts one-of-a-kind 7” vinyl record sleeves.
