In 2010 Avey Tare and Deakin of Animal Collective invited Tickley Feather to their rural studio in New York State known as the Good House. While there, the three fast friends used the good vibes of that old church and produced nine new Tickley Feather tracks.

Tickley Feather came into being as the musical alter ego of Annie Sachs in the early 2000’s in Philadelphia. A young single mother, she discovered a love for the worlds she could inhabit with a cassette 4 track, a pair of headphones, thrifted keyboards and a microphone. Writing improvisationally, her body of work quickly grew to be a treasure trove of lo-fi recordings that resembled some sort of meeting between R. Stevie Moore, Sibylle Baier, the Cocteau Twins, Tall Dwarves, Arthur Russell’s more improvisational side and Kate Bush. To date, she continues to record music on her 4 track in solitude.
