Richard Chartier is an artist and composer considered one of the key figures in minimalist sound art. His critically acclaimed albums have been released on numerous labels over the past 25 years and he has performed and exhibited his work internationally.

Under his own name, and as Pinkcourtesyphone, he has collaborated with AGF, William Basinski, CoH, Robert Curgenven, Evelina Domnitch, Taylor Deupree, ELEH, France Jobin, Yann Novak, Kid Congo Powers, Asmus Tietchens, and Cosey Fanni Tutti.

Since 2000, Chartier’s influential label LINE has published over 140 editions documenting the compositional and installation work of sound artists and composers exploring the aesthetics of minimalism.

Chartier (often as Pinkcourtesyphone) began DJing in 1991.
