Late Summer is a time to increase watering and pruning of herbs and flowers. Remove (dead-head) dying flowers to stimulate more growth make sure to compost those dead flowers! Blackberries are ready to be picked. This is a time of increased maintenance and a great time to start building a compost pile of the organic material you’ve removed from your garden. It’s a great time to plant beans (pole or bush), Corn, Cucumbers, Lima Beans, Summer Squash, Celery. It’s recommended to use some shade cloth to protect your garden on hotter days.
