dublab presents the Sounds of Now

Studio Soundtracks takes listeners behind the scenes of how music is crafted for film and television by hearing directly from composers, songwriters and music professionals in the Entertainment Industry. Listen to inspiring conversations about composition and hear works from Emmy, Grammy, and Oscar-winning film scores on the show.

ROBERT AIKI AUBREY LOWE:
Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe (b. 1975) is an artist, curator and composer that works primarily with, but not limited to voice and modular synthesizer for sound in the realm of spontaneous music. Along with analog video synthesis works, he has brought forth an A/V proposal that has been a focus of live performance and installation / exhibition.

The marriage of synthesis and the voice has allowed for a heightened physicality in the way of ecstatic music, both in a live setting and recorded. The sensitivity of analogue modular synthesis echoes the organic nature of vocal expression which in this case is meant to put forth a trancelike state.

Lowe’s works on paper tend towards human relations to the natural/magical world and the repetition of motifs.
As of late Robert has also put more focus on composition for film, both in solo scoring and collaboration.

EMILIE LEVIENAISE-FARROUCH:
Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch is a London-based, French composer and recording artist. In addition to scoring Prano Bailey- Bond’s Sundance hit debut feature Censor, Emilie has created the original scores for Harry Wootliff’s 2018 BAFTA-nominated feature Only You, WWII feature The Forgotten Battle (dir.Matthijs van Heijningen Jr.) to be released internationally on Netflix in October 2021, and the critically acclaimed Rocks (dir. Sarah Gavron), for which she received a Best Music nomination at the BIFA Awards.

Emilie has collaborated with visual artists on video installations exhibited at Jerwood Project Space, Speke Hall, The ODI and Arles Photo Festival.

She has performed her music at Tallinn Music Week, Brighton Festival and the Union Chapel. In 2017, she was commissioned by The London Contemporary Orchestra to write a piece which premiered at the Tate Morden during the BBC Proms. Emilie has released 2 albums on 130701, ‘Like Water Through the Sand’ in 2015, followed by ‘Epoques’ in 2018.
