Born watered and raised in South Central Los Angeles, Def Sound is a published poet, DJ, a community-building entrepreneur, and a contemporary hip-hop artist. Def’s captures the sound of spiritual and political freedom. Not limited only to music, def is also venturing out into apparel with his “No.Body.Is.Illegal” sweatshirts which splits a % of all profits to immigrant advocacy. def.sound’s new album COLORED Disc 1ne dropped in July on Mango Disco Records, continues his exploration of identity and self-awareness. Inspired by Zora Neale Hurston’s How It Feels to Be Colored Me and Terence Nance’s Random Acts of Flyness. def.’s COLORED Disc 2wo on the way continues the broadening of the spectrum of what Hip Hop centering hip hop as a healing mechanism weaving together a tapestry of triumph, levity, ancestry, and power.
