Change of Heart
10.23.24

Seeking to subvert any expectations the listener may have, Change of Heart takes a fearless approach to genre-bending. Your gracious host, Dara Genesis, is joined every month by guests from all different avenues of electronic music for limitless sonic exploration. With a bass-forward mindset, the show is ultimately open format and a love letter to the spirit of discovery found in the underground.
This month’s episode features a guest mix by Eric Spivak.
Eric Spivak is an established Los Angeles based DJ, Producer & Emcee. Born in Chicago, raised between Florida and New York. You can hear the diversity in his sets that come as a mixed bag ranging from rare hip-hop mashups and remixes to acid house and jungle dubs to juke, footwork and garage, instrumental breaks, techno and beyond. One of the unique qualities of his sets is he loops parts of tracks and freestyles over them while mixing live, always on tempo with hundreds of patterns which come from him rapping for over a decade. He’s also an event producer and part of the longest running independent music showcase in Leimert Park called BananasLA. Which has had the likes of Anderson Paak, Doja Cat, Kendrick Lamar and countless others sharing the stage with his partner Verbs and team of residents. Beyond that showcase, he’s also helped put on Peggy Gou’s first show in LA in 2017 with Moony Habits, alongside Kaytranda’s with Soulection, was editor-in-chief for The Beat Junkies and despite not being on EDC, Tomorrowland or Ultra. Spiv has done shows with everyone imaginable from Virgil Abloh, A-Trak, DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Bianca Oblivion, Jubilee, Venus X, Sango, Smino, Buddy, YG even Vince Staples performed at one of his parties. Beyond his music side, he’s also done visual art for a ton of your favorite artists too. Much like his handle ( @Eric.Spiv.is.ur.plug ) he’s most known for producing some of the best parties in LA, while also being instrumental in the preservation and longevity of the city’s rich underground culture by providing unique warehouse locations, sound, security, AV teams and more to the top producers in town. If you’d like to see for yourself some of the parties we’re speaking of, you can check them out on Eric-Spivak.com. Enjoy!
