Live dublab Mix
03.02.00

Working at the intersection of downtempo breaks, trip-hop, and drum’n’bass, producer/DJ Amon Tobin was way ahead of his time. On this trippy live dublab mix from March 2000, it shows.
Kicking things off with an upbeat mashup of Herb Alpert’s Tijuana Brass and Public Enemy, Tobin quickly turns to a batch of his own dark, moody beats. After a brief detour to a completely blown out version of electronic experimental composer Pierre Henry’s “Psyché Rock,” the framework for the Futurama theme, the set builds to an exciting 7-minute finale.
FROM THE VAULTS is an ongoing curation project produced by Ben Sinclair, resurfacing rare live performances and DJ sets recorded during dublab’s first ten years.
