Blast off with an eclectic mix from one of the founders of Poo-bah Records, pairing wild, spiritual jazz cuts with smooth, trippy, mostly instrumental hip-hop and a heap of house styles — unsurprising for an associate of avant-astral traveller Ras G. Black Monk’s been off the radar for years as a producer, but these selections from 2005 show how Monk, like Poo-bah in general, has been able to bridge so many different spiritual sounds with a range of shared, unseen undercurrents.

Featured artists include Monk himself plus Ornate Coleman, Woody Shaw, DJ Rels, Gary Bartz, Umod, Bugz in the Attic, Theo Parrish, Brotha Lynch Hung and many more.
