Five years into his career at KCRW hosting the award-winning program “Chocolate City” and long before music supervising on Entourage and Crips and Bloods: Made in America, LA’s own Garth Trinidad came on “Breastfed” with Carlos Niño at the start of dublab’s second year. He spun an hour of excellent, independent hip-hop and soul, with a couple super smooth stopovers in jazz and drum ’n’ bass.

This mix starts out lush with the sumptuous, mood-setting orchestration of “Mariko” then warms up with some Bobby Womack and Shuggie Otis before heading into rap territory with Bahamdia’s “Commonwealth”.
