Stylish London producer, DJ and Impossible Ark label head Ben Lamdin visited dublab during his third year releasing retro jazz-funk records as Nostalgia 77.

The resulting session, now available for the first time in over a decade, highlights many of Lamdin’s vintage vinyl influences: deeply funky soul gospel from The Shackleford Singers, the Ethio-jazz of artists like Mulatu Astatke, R&B from the likes of Bobby Bland, terrific modern breaks records like Natural Self’s “The Calling” and much more. The grooves come from all over the map, and interspersed throughout are fitting Nostalgia 77 tracks that show Lamdin’s ability to convert his interests into new work.
