Zone Mapping
02.18.23

Zone Mapping seeks to create a connection between social justice, environmentalism, and sound. Gabie Strong and Ian Wellman bring diverse music in the industrial, noisy, and free jazz spectrums to create stories based on topical issues. Occasional guests will be brought on to bring new ideas and concepts to the episode.
Gabie Strong is a LA based interdisciplinary artist and educator using noise, improvised sound performance, and radio broadcasting to reveal the overlay between environmental degradation and violence against women.
Ian Wellman combines slowed and distorted tape loop textures along with field recordings to create dynamic landscapes. He has releases on Room40, Dragon’s Eye Recordings, and Industrial Coast. Ian is also an IATSE 695 Production Sound Mixer.
