dublab presents the Sounds of Now

Closing off the year strong, Escuchar al Istmo welcomes special guest DJ Juanny from projects @amordigital & @rebanerecords. This episode includes DJ Juanny’s hour-long set sharing all his original produced tracks followed by a short interview with him. Closing the episode you’ll hear some vinyl records I haven’t shared on the air yet – 90s plena, reggae, dancehall & r&b covers from Honduras & Panama. Tune in for another episode on sharing the sounds and stories of the Central American diaspora.

DJ Juanny is a sonic artist from the Bay Area who draws inspiration from the sounds of the Caribbean and the UK, often blending them with samples from films, TV, and pop culture. He runs Amor Digital, a party series and netlabel co-founded in 2018 centered around underground subgenres of reggaeton and club music. Amor Digital aims to spotlight emerging music from the Américas and the Latin American diaspora and has become a Bay Area fixture, often the first to book artists like Nick León, Bitter Babe, Ms. Nina & MJ Nebreda in the Bay. Now releasing music and operating a music studio in San Francisco, Amor Digital has aims of connecting producers & recording artists from Central America with audiences worldwide. Recently, DJ Juanny released a 4-track EP titled ‘SUCHITOTO’ via the seminal Mexico City label, N.A.A.F.I and his first vinyl release, ‘MIATA’, through the Oakland label NO BIAS. His music can be found on dj-juanny.bandcamp.com
