Hitmakerchinx, also known as HMXDON, is a Brooklyn-born DJ, producer, and creator of FDM (Flex Dance Music) — a dancehall-driven electronic subgenre he developed in 2010 that helped fuel the rise of the FlexN dance movement. Raised in Brooklyn by Guyanese parents, HMX transformed the early era of “Flex Tunez” — DJ blends made in programs like VirtualDJ — into fully produced records built from scratch, shaping a bass-heavy sound rooted in dancehall rhythms and Brooklyn dance culture.
Over the past decade he has carried FDM from New York into global club spaces, producing one of the first FDM records featured in Step Up All In (2014), debuting as a DJ at Red Bull’s Ghetto Gothik in 2015, and touring internationally while performing to his own FDM production of Talk That Talk by Rihanna during the Anti World Tour in 2016. In 2017 he released the first official FDM album with Fade to Mind and Night Slugs, helping introduce the genre to the global electronic underground.
Now continuing to tour across Europe, Asia, and the United States, HMX is expanding the sound further with Flex Dub, a new evolution of FDM inspired by early 2000s Passa Passa dancehall energy and experimental gqom textures, shifting FDM’s signature 107 BPM pulse toward the 120 BPM intensity of modern club rhythms.
For his session on dublab, Hitmakerchinx delivers a bass-driven journey through the world of Flex Dance Music and its evolving future.
