Thread the Needle: dissonance
04.25.26

Thread the Needle is a monthly, eclectic, thematic exploration that delves into sounds connected by a shared thread.
On this month’s episode of Thread the Needle, Jenn invites Nidia and Emily for a vinyl guest session.
Nidia used to co-host a punk radio show out of KQBH 101.5 FM in Boyle Heights. From late-night sets with Pocha Peruana, studio time with friends Dissent Subversive Sounds, and sharing frequencies and chatting with local punk bands, the show was shaped by friendship and hyper-local/transbarrio punk. In Pocha Punks fashion, this mix threads together her favorite punk from LA and beyond.
Emily is back from a 20-year hiatus from radio to play the exact same eclectic mix she played way back when. This mix is a journey through time highlighting places lived and visited like NYC, LA, Japan, and Italy.
