Connective Tissue is about the spaces between sound, ideas and people. Featuring underground artists from across the electronic spectrum as well as themed excursions into rhythms at large, Kathi delves into dance music, as well as into the connections that make it possible. The party hiatus forced by the pandemic prompted a personal need to reevaluate what DJing can do as an inherently contextual, fluid, and community-based practice, within and beyond nightlife. Connective Tissue seeks to explore this question through conversations, guest contributions, and experimentation with the 2-hour radio format. Sonic syncretism, fluidity, and genre irreverence will be celebrated in every episode.

This episode of Connective Tissue features long-time friend and collaborator, Dylan Reece!

I ran into Dylz at Palm Springs Pride this year, the first event we had seen each other at since before the pandemic, and invited him to contribute a mix to the show. There was no specific theme for this episode, except to challenge ourselves and pick those tracks that aren’t necessarily crowd pleasers.

As always, in the first hour you’ll hear selections by yours truly, which ended up bassy and eclectic (eclec-thic?) mix – maybe influenced by my recent trip to CDMX and the cumbia and reggaeton dripping out of every corner there.

The second hour features Dylan’s wild mix, taking us straight to the rave and beyond. It’s dark, dynamic and guaranteed to make you sweat. It’s got everything – techno, electro bangers, acid twists, breaky epic piano things… enjoy!

Dylan is a DJ, producer and graphic designer based in Austin, Texas. He has been immersed in dance music since his early days in the 90s Texas rave scene and has been spreading the love on dance floors since then.
