People’s Portal is a monthly segment hosted by Josephine Shetty, aka Kohinoorgasm, aspiring to bridge the visions of grassroots musicians with those of grassroots activists. Kohinoorgasm exclusively spins the music of experimental, unsigned, non-commercial, underground, and working class musicians, while each show features a conversation between the host and two guest artists/activists.

Ayesha U. Shaikh is an artist and researcher of Islamic art and architecture. Her interests include material and architectural interactions between Gujarat and Egypt during the 13th through 16th centuries via the Red Sea. She has previously written on topics relating to German Orientalism and the historiography of Islamic ornamentation in German industrial architecture during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Ayesha holds a BA in Art History from the University of California, Berkeley (2017) and a Master’s in Architectural Studies from the Aga Khan Program for Islamic Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2020).
