Sonámbula Radio: Chosen Family, Chosen Learning
03.04.25

Welcome to Sonámbula Radio — the global music show where DJ’s Miche and Langosta take each episode to transport you to the warehouses and garages across the world. We explore one genre in depth going into its history and learn about underground scenes of the past and present that have transformed, reclaimed, and revolutionized the genre by creating queer space either physically or sonically. Some genres explored include: cumbia, techno, baile-funk, mor lam music, etc. Bailemos!
This month is a special edition of Sonámbula Radio – Chosen Family, Chosen Learning: QTPOC Collective Knowledge with Victor Marroquin.
On this episode we welcome community organizer, Victor Marroquin. We discuss how we as a community can work against the censorship queer people by the Trump administration. Additionally, Miche played an amazing setlist of all trans musicians. Victor has been a community organizer for many years and is currently the Youth Outreach Coordinator at REACHLA; a non-profit that supports QTPOC through outreach, programming, and health services. Victor works in local high schools and tactfully assesses the needs of youth by empowering them to advocate for themselves in their classrooms, and school programs. Through our conversation we learned the importance of centering youth perspectives and that QTPOC people have been fighting similar censorship for many years. We have our own history of liberation tactics to lean on in the next four years.
