In late spring of 2022 Luke and Jake embarked on a 3-week-long backpacking trip through the heart of Poland, retracing their grandmother’s steps on a similar journey in 1922. Following her exploits as chronicled in a meticulously-kept diary, they experienced astonishing connections to the century-old log. Unfortunately, a snafu surrounding reimbursement for a train ticket to Zakopané drove a stake through the heart of their friendship and caused the two to split up, with Luke traveling to Berlin to study composition at the Free University and Jake heading back to the States to attend the Iowa Writers’ Workshop in Iowa City, Iowa.

They didn’t speak to one another for 3 years.

Following a chance encounter through a mutual friend who prefers to remain anonymous (Melina Finck), the two reconvened in the dublab studio to make amends and explore a shared passion. While very few words were shared between the two, a shocking amount of communication can be heard in the waveforms of this Relaxing Radio Hour.
