Lumad Radio Hour is a monthly radio show featuring music from Lumad (indigenous) communities in Mindanao. Each show will be two hours in duration, featuring a mix of music, conversation and sounds from Lumad communities. Lumad Radio Hour is hosted by dublab DJ, Mallory Lei-Smith, who is not Lumad, in collaboration with Liyang Network. Liyang is a local to global advocacy network that amplifies the calls to action of Lumad communities on the frontlines of environmental protection.
Liyang writes, “By weaving together our diverse experiences, skills and resources, we unite in their active defense of land, livelihood and self-determination.” Lumad Radio Hour exists as a means to connect people in the international community with the music and present victories and struggles of Lumad people and to amplify Lumad communities calls to action.
