dublab presents the Sounds of Now

Mark Trecka is a Chicago-born singer, sound artist, writer, and organizer. “Loping / gestures” is his most recent solo release and his first for Beacon Sound. 

This mix explores collaborators, influences and works sampled on “Loping / gestures,” including music by: Phyllis Dillon, Obelisk Ruins, Lake Mary, Evan Hydzik, jaimie branch, Fly or Die, Pelted Shell, Midwife, Raven Chacon, Skinny Puppy, Mansur Brown, and Marshall Trammell, as well as the voices of Kazuo Ohno, W.G. Sebald, Susan Sontag, John Berger, and yasser elhariry. The mix is threaded through with excerpts from Trecka’s “Correspondences as Shelter,” an experimental radio program originally developed for Radio Coyote and now airing bi-monthly on Radio al Hara.
