Modern Composition L.A. is dublab’s cross-genre radio series examining the dynamic, new music emerging from Los Angeles. Each installment focuses on an individual composer’s contribution to the city’s fertile sonic landscape. Through in-depth interviews, illuminating recordings, and the premiere of a new work by the featured composer, we illustrate how these distinct artists are shaping Los Angeles and how the city has influenced them. Multi-dimensional artist Anna Luisa bends time and space through art, creating portals for us to leap through. Her imagined worlds help elevate the real one we all share. Expressing herself through music, movement, video, costume design, community building and various other creative modes, Anna Luisa materializes platforms for conversations about identity, symbiosis, and healing. On this episode of Modern Composition L.A., recorded via Zoom in the midst of the Coronavirus Pandemic and a breath before the people’s uprising to shatter systemic racism, Anna Luisa and Frosty engage in conversation about her practice and survey music from her chosen family of collaborators. The episode culminates in the premiere of a brand audio vision by Anna Luisa.
