For this episode of Channels we sit with Black Bass Collective.

What once started as a living room conversation amongst friends, DeFacto X, Dani, and Alxanderivey has transformed into one of Los Angeles’ most electric underground movements: Black Bass Collective. With the group celebrating their 3 year anniversary this September, the collective was created to bring together the sounds of the Black American musical experience with the raw pulse of late-night culture, forging a space where Black and Brown queer communities can unite through dance and art.

As co-founders, each bring a distinct vision—DeFacto X weaving connections between Detroit Techno, Hardgroove & Ballroom/Vogue dance floor staples; Alxanderivey curating experiences that bridge global diasporic rhythms like Jersey Club, Dancehall, New Orleans bounce and bubbling underground edits; and Dani developing thought-provoking collaborations and a foundation that can’t be shook, while also integrating visual art, film, and production into the collective’s ever-evolving practice.
