dublab presents the Sounds of Now

MELLOW DRAMA is a mixtape language meditation where mysterious voices call in to read from long books of poetry. In this intimately humid space, you might encounter outsized DJ personalities, concept-driven music sets, and astrology-heavy conversational foreplay. We’re just a couple of slow-mo homos who want to arrive with you.

Sanam Sheriff is a queer poet and artist from Bangalore, India. She has received support from the Thomas J. Watson Fellowship, The Watering Hole, Pink Door, Seventh Wave, and is a Pushcart Prize Nominee. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Indiana Review, Virginia Quarterly Review, The Academy of American Poets, The Offing, Vinyl Poetry & Prose, Black Warrior Review, Kweli Journal, Shade Literary Arts, DW B, and elsewhere. Sanam holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Washington University in St. Louis. She currently resides in Philadelphia, PA, and is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Bryn Mawr College. Sanam is working, with much love, on her debut poetry collection.

meital yaniv (b. 1984, Tel-Aviv, israel) is learning how to be in a human form. they do things with words, with moving n still images, with threads, with bodies in front of bodies, with the Earth. they are a death doula tending to a prayer for the liberation of the land of Palestine and the lands of our bodies. they are learning to listen to the Waters, birdsongs, caretakers, and ancestors as they walk as a guest on the lands of the Tongva-Kizh Nation, Luiseño, and Cahuilla peoples and ways.
