Out There ~ a Field Recording Program
05.23.24

Voyage with dublab into new worlds. Each week we present a long-form field recording that will transport you through the power of sound.
This week’s soundscape combines three Metabolic Studio initiatives. First, Satellite Radio Choir; a weekly choir that convened on the Zoom platform throughout the pandemic, spatializing the virtual synthesis of our voices by feeding the livestream into a silo on the edge of the Owens Dry Lake. Next, the New Directions Choir; a veteran‘s choir formed during Lauren Bon’s Strawberry Flag intervention which created a veteran work force program that nurtured reclaimed strawberry plants at the Veteran’s Association. Third, Pipeline; the soundtrack from a film about water, silver and the Owens Valley. You’ll also hear field recordings of the resident owl at the Silos and shamanic drumming by Hazel Williams-Carter.
Tune-in, open up, and venture out there as we take excursions into evocative audio fields together.
