Out There ~ a Field Recording Program
06.20.24

Voyage with dublab into new worlds. Each week we present a long-form field recording that will transport you through the power of sound.
Today we are sharing field recordings from Bending the River’s first phase of construction in the Los Angeles River in autumn of 2019. We will hear various construction sounds inside the concrete jacket of the LA River, many recorded underwater to preserve the vantage point of the river itself. Also featuring biologist Matthew Teutimez of the Gabrieleño Band of Mission Indians, the cultural monitor on the project, speaking to the construction team briefly about the history of the river, the tribes that lived along it and the protocol for preserving any artifacts found along the river during construction.
Tune-in, open up, and venture out there as we take excursions into evocative audio fields together.
