Tangled is an expansion on the chapbook started by Patrick Shiroishi, aiming to explore Asian American musicians in the experimental and avant-garde scene.
On this month’s episode, Patrick is joined by Emma Palm.
No Translation is the project of Emma Palm, a Taiwanese-American musician and visual artist based in Los Angeles. She crafts immersive sonic realms that weave together layered beds of synths, vocals, environmental field recordings, and guqin. By sampling and sequencing her own recordings, Palm builds foundations that she expands, reshapes, adds to and subtracts from — exploring subtle nuances in texture and melody and blending structured forms with organic shapes of sound.
