dublab presents the Sounds of Now
dublab presents the Sounds of Now

12 years ago dublab traveled to the Winter Music Conference in Miami, Florida. We arrived in South Beach to find a land strewn with shiny shirts, vapid models and gelled, sea-breeze-proof hair. Once we had surveyed the scene we looked for every opportunity to escape the shitzy glitz of the mega-club strip and explore the outskirts, where the true flavor was to be found. One thing did draw us back into the belly of the beast, however: Riot at Red Square.

The progressive-minded folks at Planet-E Communications, helmed by Carl Craig, assembled a crew of creative musicians to build a bastion of quality brain/body music amongst the slick sea that was WMC. dublab was thrilled to be blessed with permission to archive recordings of the event. A decade later, we stumbled upon the DAT tapes of these soundboard recordings and are proud to present them to you again.

The details are a bit shady, but based on the labeling of our tapes we’re pretty sure these recordings comprise the complete archive of this incredible show. Enjoy these transmissions from a bright point in the past.

This is part 4 of 8.

Bonus: Here’s the original listing of the event that we found on the web…
