Founded in 2005 by writer Jeff Weiss (LA Weekly, Washington Post, Pitchfork), POW has become the last of the Mohicans, a daily independent music blog featuring long and short-form writing, and the occasional paean to Daniel Day-Lewis’ coif in “The Last of the Mohicans.” Named the LA Weekly’s Best Music Blog, POW has been among the first nationally to write about Kendrick Lamar, Danny Brown, Kodak Black, and many others. In 2016, it birthed the label, POW Recordings, featuring artists such as Chester Watson, Jordan Raf, Natia, Ness Nite, Pioneer 11, and T.Y.E. When in doubt, we are pro-Boosie till the death.
