MICROWORLDS is a musical talk show hosted by Rusty Santos. Guests from the underground and the overground alike discuss music, select songs, or perform live with a focus on psychedelia, including genres like indie pop, psychedelic pop, rave music, post-punk, progressive and glam rock, underground hip hop, and experimental music.

There’s a record store that tops a flight of stairs tucked in a residential building that has been a place of music discovery for me. This is where I’ve discovered some of the most abstract spaces in between the club PA and the living room stereo. I’ve always found myself drawn to the introspective side of electronic music that’s built for big sound systems. Hardwax is the perfect gateway to that. It’s a sanctuary for DJs and producers. It’s the place closest to my heart whenever I’m lucky enough to be in Berlin. The last time I was there, I discovered a mysterious record label called Hidden Hawaii. The artwork and artist names are beyond understated. There’s no ready gateway to this music or biographical framework to ground yourself to while exploring these dark musical worlds of hiss, static, monophonic elements, to the most basic building blocks of synthesizers, and boldfaced fader movements that include automation and mixing effects. The package is the container; it’s music that turns your headphones, speakers, or whatever system these songs are being heard through into an element of the sound itself. I’ve been able to dive deeper into this label, and according to the internet, it is helmed by an artist named Felix K.
