This month on Butterfly Beat, Sonrisita is joined by DJ VAGO, the LA-based creative behind the community-driven party series AMISTAD.

VAGO is shaped by the lineage of house music culture, drawing early inspiration from Louie Vega and Joe Claussell, alongside salsa legends Ángel Canales and Héctor Lavoe. In 2018, he released music on Nervous Records and Made In Miami, marking a defining moment in his evolution as an artist. His sound blends deep house influence with Latin rhythm and soulful depth, built intentionally for the dancers. Introduced to cumbia and salsa by his father at an early age, those rhythms shaped his connection to Latin percussion and movement, adding warmth, swing, and cultural weight to the grooves he delivers. Beyond the booth, VAGO curates culturally driven experiences through his platform AMISTAD, creating spaces where global rhythm, community, and dancefloor energy come together with purpose.
