Born and raised in LA on KDAY, The Beat, and Funkmosphere, The Alaia is attracted to music that has a feeling of perpetual summer and heat: soulful boogie funk, sexy disco, smooth g-funk, hard gangsta rap. She aspires to play music to make you bounce, to get you off your ass, to makes you want to cry, to make you wanna go home with a stranger, to makes you feel tuff enough to catch an attitude. Always discovering and rediscovering, she collects and selects vinyl and cassettes mostly, with some CDs here and there. She’s graced the Dublab airwaves, contributed a guest mix Dash Radio, holds down a casual monthly residency on local online radio station VPN Radio, and has contributed guest dj mixes to an array of music selector series’ worldwide.

Randy Ellis is a co-owner and label manager of Hobo Camp Records and Voltaire Records in California, longtime vinyl DJ/collector, host of the NTS radio program “Mint Condition” as well as a producer, re-mixer, arranger, event promoter/coordinator and frequent contributor/collaborator to projects like Loose Shus, Chautauqua, and Elegant Borzoi. His DJ sets journeys deep into an abyss of new, classic, and obscure 12″and 7″ records, with a focus toward high-end boogie, disco, two step, sweet soul, italo, house and modern funk.

Special Delivery unpacks a thoughtfully curated selection of sounds that bring together the fluid melodies of the world around us. R.E.A explores all kinds of music from boogie and house, post-punk to ambient and everything in between. You’ll also find bits of field recordings from various landscapes to remind you of the rhythm of nature throughout your listening experience. She believes that sound can heal and soothe, especially those from nature.

Living in a fast paced, post-industrial landscape that’s constantly buzzing with noises makes it harder for us to experience the grounding sounds of our earthly sphere. By blending these two components together, R.E.A shares a dreamy mix reminiscent of a warm Saturday afternoon that leads you back to the sounds we know.
