Lamenting the separation of the UK from Europe this mix was was inspired by the nostalgia of the warm balearic sound born in the clubs of Ibiza in the late 80s. DJ Alfredo (RIP) skillfully blended Euro-pop, latin funk, 80s post-punk and the early Chicago house sound into a euphoric sunrise haze on the open air terrace of Amnesia. Visiting DJs from London danced together in the morning sunlight and rushed back to London armed with records, inspired to start the acid house clubs of Shoom and Future in dark basements of London in 1988. The legendary Andrew Weatherall was one of those DJs, who also sadly passed away last year. This mix was inspired by his genre bending DJ sets at the Boys Own and Shoom parties that kicked off the Balearic acid house sound. It’s 5am, the sun is rising.
