Mia Doi Todd and Omar Velasco live at 2220!

Mia Doi Todd is a singer-songwriter from Los Angeles. Her new album “Music Life” (City Zen Records, 2021) explores themes of motherhood and the creative life. Pitchfork describes Mia as “a singer-songwriter who views her work more like a landscape painter, patiently bringing a world to life across the canvas.” From her first solo acoustic album, “The Ewe and the Eye,” released just as she was graduating from Yale University, to her soundtrack for a film adaptation of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Mia has distinguished herself as an artist with a unique voice and singular vision. Her album, “Cosmic Ocean Ship,” was chosen by the New York Times as one of the top ten records of 2011. Most known for her thoughtful and emotional songwriting, Mia also released an album of Brazilian songs, recorded in São Paulo. Mia has toured the US, Europe and Brazil, performing in such esteemed venues as the Hollywood Bowl and Circo Voador in Rio de Janeiro. Mia is looking forward to the vinyl release of her remix album, “Ten Views of Music Life,” in fall 2022 with contributions from Julia Holter, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Dntel, Kassim, Carlos Niño and more.

Singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Omar Velasco’s music draws from a broad range of influences; it pays homage to the greats of the past – like Stevie Wonder, Shuggie Otis, Joni Mitchell and Milton Nascimento – while avoiding the triviality of nostalgia. Based in Los Angeles, Omar Velasco has toured and collaborated with artists such as Jonathan Wilson, Jim James and My Morning Jacket, Gardens and Villa and many others. As well as touring and releasing music under his own name, Velasco is part of the critically acclaimed band Amo Amo.
