Perpetual Dawn

Special Guest Headliner PEAKING LIGHTS ACID TEST doing a Berghain inspired two hour techno DJ set. Get ready to get heady!
Our theme this month is a tribute to the amazing work of the seminal MEMPHIS MILANO collective. “It is no coincidence that the people who work for Memphis don’t pursue a metaphysic aesthetic idea or an absolute of any kind, much less eternity,” observed Ettore Sottsass. “Today everything one does is consumed. It is dedicated to life, not to eternity.”
It’s hedonistic, practical, effective design…a parallel to our techno lifestyle.
And to take things even further we are making the party all blacklight, so break out the neon markers and face-paint.

Background info:
STUDIO MEMPHIS MILANO 81:
On 11 December 1980, Ettore Sottsass organised a meeting with designers and formed a design collaborative named Memphis. The name was taken after the Bob Dylan song “Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again” which had been played repeatedly throughout the evening’s meeting. They drew inspiration from such movements as Art Deco and Pop Art, including styles such as the 1950s Kitsch and futuristic themes.
Memphis was seen as equally sensational outside the closed confines of the design community. The packed opening party, cool graphics and hip young designers – male and female, from different countries – proved irresistible to the mass media. Perfectly in tune with an era when pop culture was dominated by the post-punk flamboyance of early 1980s new romanticism, Memphis was also a colorful, clearly defined manifestation of the often obscure post-modernist theories then so influential in art and architecture.
