Take a journey through space, time and the imagination as The Music Center bends reality to create an otherworldly experience late into the night. Drawing inspiration from futurism, space, time travel and sci-fi, The Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion is transformed into a mothership of spatial delights, becoming a portal to the past, altering the state of now and glimpsing into the future. Come onboard the ultimate nighttime odyssey featuring a lineup of L.A.’s cosmic artists.
There are real stars in L.A.! You can find them with the help of onsite experts and an array of professional telescopes. Also in the mix are Kaleidoscopic Telescopes curated with reflected images and colorful visions by LA-Based artists. Travel through time as you search the night sky with sets from a live classical string quartet and DJ’s Frosty and Joey Altruda playing an eclectic mix of sci-fi, exotica, lounge and 50s space-age records on The Music Center Plaza.
Space-inspired music curated by Dublab sets the mood as artist Michael Ohsann creates a futuristic light tunnel for night-owls to be transported into the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
Are you game? Enter the Hope Arcade and move through a maze of classic video games like PacMan, Galaga, Space Invaders and more as pulsing 80s electropop and lighting by Sohail Najafi set the scene for you to revisit your youth.
Descend into the Lower Lobby Video Vault as designer Keith Skretch transports viewers to another time and place through live video capture while altering and delaying them. Catch yourself, or your former self, on the big screen.
Linger, lounge and look up in the Stern Grand Hall Space Synth Jam as curated by Moogfest. Tune into this space of oversized bean bags, cushions, modular synth exploration, and large-scale projections by JJ Stratford.
Original minimalist compositions and sounds by JD Emmanuel envelop the Tunnel Corridor as video projections saturate the space with color and high-contrast star fields.
Space oddities can get their dance on in the Founders Room with Funkmosphere and take in lighting by Sohail Najafi.
In the decommissioned Time Travel Phone Booths, reach out and touch someone from your mobile device for live chats with the past and future.
