Started in 2008 by dublab and Creative Commons, “INTO INFINITY” is a growing art archive that collects 8 second sound loops and circular graphics from audio/ visual artists across the world, and makes them available under a Creative Commons license.

Creative Commons affiliate in Japan (CCJP) echoed with this movement and has been deploying various events featuring the INTO INFINITY archive in Japan in 2009 and 2010, and also released an original iPhone application for remixing INTO INFINITY sound.

This time, to further promote and support the nurturing remix community around INTO INFINITY, CCJP started the Infinity Loops series. “Infinity Loops” aims at building an archive of the process of remixing INTO INFINITY contents performed by selected artists, and we release the resulting piece also under a Creative Commons license. By doing so, we hope to stimulate the potential amateur/professional remixers around the world and to invite them to join the INTO INFINITY chain of creativity. We are also expecting to resonate with the Remix Project lead by dublab and CCUS, and thus wish to invite all viewers to check their web site as well.

For this 1st issue of Infinity Loops, we are presenting a recorded remix session of INTO Infinity Loops by the excellent Coffee&Cigarettes Band consisting of DJ Kensei who is himself a contributor to INTO INFINITY, and DJ Sagaraxx. The session was shot&edited by an emerging VJ/Filmmaker DBKN, who took charge of building a special stage inspired by the INTO INFINITY concept. This time, DBKN also pioneered an extensive genre of INTO INFINITY remix, by translating 42 INTO INFINITY sound loops into short video pieces, and mixed them to create a brand new video piece.
