Version Sounds

dublab is thrilled to have Pitchfork.tv exclusively premier our new VisionVersion film featuring Javelin. This live performance was filmed at LA’s legendary Bob Baker Marionette Theater. This amazing landmark has been a continuously operating, 50 year institution where Bob Baker himself still crafts his own puppets and directs daily marionette shows.
Our pals Javelin are a Brooklyn-based duo consisting of cousins, Tom Van Buskirk and George Langford create a buoyant blend of sounds grounded on an electro foundation and bouncing to tangents as diverse as disco, doo-wop, dreamy indie-pop and Peruvian pan pipe hip-hop. Their latest album, No Mas, was released earlier this year on
Luaka Bop.
This VisionVersion was directed by stellar film superhero Alex Pelly, who has created visual projections for multiple dublab events, including the “Future Roots” stage at the Eagle Rock Music Festival, Creative Cultivation, Secondhand Sureshots premiers, Teeb’s Ardour Art Show/Release Party and the monthly Top Tape night at the Hyperion Tavern. This is her directorial debut. Click here to watch!
