ANNIVERSARY SELECTS: Jimmy Tamborello – Dying Songs
Sunday October 12, 2025
07:00 AM to 09:00 AM

“What is ahead of us [the past] cannot be forgotten so readily or ignored, for it is in front of our minds’ eyes, always reminding us of its presence.” – Epeli Hauʻofa
Did you know we’re older than Wikipedia?! In the age of streaming and microsecond scrolling, our online archive has grown steadily since 1999 to hold thousands of unique artist-led shows, deep cuts, first-heard releases, and seminal sonic moments.
Music has a way of bending time. When you revisit and explore our archive, each play becomes an act of time travel: remembering, discovering, connecting to people and places, and imagining what comes next.
Travel with us for this special 26th Anniversary Broadcast spanning 26 years of our archive, featuring hand-picked selections from Gogo Chilaka and sadie Ibrahim, with a live-and-direct broadcast between 2pm-midnight from our event at Porter Street Studio hosted by Frosty, T.Kay, and V.C.R.
For our anniversary picks, we approached curating shows from a globally-minded perspective. Although dublab’s roots are in LA, the influence that our artistic community has is worldwide. Gogo chose broadcasts from Germany, Japan, and Brazil to highlight some of our sister stations, as well as archives from OG world music enthusiasts like Danny Holloway and Ale Cohen. sadie chose broadcasts by J Rocc to pay tribute to LA’s OG turntablist scene, Jimmy Tamborello to reference the importance of his impact on alternative/indie music, and Rachel Day to thank her for her work at dublab. These picks pay homage to the foundations of dublab—and how its impact transcends borders.

Dying Songs focuses on new electronic music, usually the more experimental, dreamy, ghostly, pretty, sad side. Also occasional looks back or into other musical worlds.
