Karim & Mara are soulmate homies that met in their late youth and quickly discovered that Cairo and Miami culture bleed into each other in magic ways. Discoteca 3ala Mars presents explorations of musical lineages between Masr, the 305 and the broader musical traditions of the surrounding regions and cultures. The intention is to explore and enjoy sounds that shape the experiences of third culture kids outside of the places they’re from.

Raised across the West Coast with roots in Syria and Palestine, LA and NYC-based DJ Mansaf Mama’s sound lives at the crossroads of shaabi music and the rising queer SWANA club subculture. As resident DJ for Kousa Party in Oakland and co-founder of Mahragan Party in LA, her selections create a unique blend of GLOBAL SHAABI- the songs you hear blasting from balconies across the world. Outside of DJing, Alia is an oral historian and audio producer, living in the world of Arabic folk music and the people who keep it alive.
