This is an offering. An ode to those pursuing and finding peace, strength and momentary respite through sound and repetition. It has taken on the form of an assembling of field recordings, songs, chants and sonic instances captured, collected and meditated upon throughout a journey and subsequent return. A sonic road trip constructed of recordings made and others found (7″ records and CDs) during travels through northern Morocco, together with others listened to on those travels and a few discovered more recently. A humble action carried out with the sole intention of sharing a minuscule part of the beauty and depth of Islamic and North African music and culture, their infinitely complex tapestries and their influence on me and musicians I deeply admire. I am no expert on the matter – this is simply an attempt to transmit what has been found along the way.
