Tom Zé is the pre-cursor of the microwave. He is a powerful magic machine that heats up minds while spinning them in circles. He’ll get your brain exploding like popcorn and zap your synapses with pure heat. Zé was an instrumental member of Brasil’s Tropicália movement of the late ’60’s which has so heavily influenced both the wide open way in which we here at dublab approach music as well as the experimental sonic landscape of the world at large. Unlike the other members of this revolutionary wave, the sound splintering Mr. Zé, slipped into obscurity for decades only to resurface fresher than ever and to great acclaim. Now at 74 years young he blazes with pure creative energy that continues to melt even the most frozen minds!

The forward thinking folks at Luaka Bop have just released a beautiful, hand-numbered box set, “Studies of Tom Zé: Explaining Things So I Can Confuse You,” which collects the three amazing Tom Zé albums the label has released along with a live 7 inch, cd, essay, and digital downloads!

We are proud to present two magnificent songs from the box set. The first comes from the 2005 album “Estudando O Pagode – Na Opereta Segregamulher E Amor” while the second can be found on the brand new and beautiful “Estudando a Bossa: Nordeste Plaza” on Luaka Bop. Enjoy!!!!!
