PELLYVISION
11.09.23

Live set at 1:02:45
PELLYVISION is a monthly cohesion of sound and vision. Each episode features a musical performance and/or dj set from a different artist, which Alex Pelly visually accompanies by synthesizing live audio reactive video using a modular synthesizer and other analog technology.
Ki Oni is the pseudonym of ambient artist Chuck Soo-Hoo named after a creature in a Japanese monster movie – a tree with a human face that spews flower pedals from its mouth. Soo-Hoo similarly inhabits a surreal space between the artificial and natural worlds, a liminal zone where the fabricated blends with the fluid and music is a river, flowing of its own accord.
Soo-Hoo splits his time between working at dublab, L.A.’s freeform radio station, and co-hosting Contact Wave, the station’s resident ambient and experimental music program. He has previously released music on AKP Recordings, Atlantic Rhythms, Doom Trip, Inner Islands, Geographic North, KMAN 92.5, Never Content, Pyramid Blood, A Red Thread, and Ume Records.
Alex Pelly is a Canadian video artist based in LA whose work incorporates multiple generations of video technology, both analog and digital. In recent years her process has been centered on modular video synthesis. Frequently collaborative with musical accompaniment, her visuals serve as a reflection of and muse to the music simultaneously. She provides live visuals and installation work for various shows, music nights and art happenings around Los Angeles.
