Tropisónico — Live from DaDank Crypto Bar

Tropisónico is an all-vinyl transmission tracing the pulse of Latin sound across time and place. Hosted by El Cocodrilo, a selector from South Central Los Angeles, the show blends rhythms rooted in the tropics and reshaped by migration, independent pressings, and underground dance floors. Each episode explores salsa pesada, psychedelic cumbia, banda, quebraditas, rare disco, barrio boogaloo, and Afro-Caribbean funk—treating vinyl not as nostalgia, but as a living archive of resistance, joy, and movement.
This special session was recorded live and uncut from DaDank Crypto Bar in Hawthorne—the first crypto bar in Los Angeles and an intimate neighborhood space grounded in shared listening, gaming, community, and craft beer culture. DaDank curates a rotating selection of independent and hard-to-find craft beers, pairing thoughtful research with a welcoming atmosphere that encourages conversation, discovery, and collective experience—an ideal setting for a vinyl-forward broadcast.
El Cocodrilo is joined by guest selectors Clifton (DJ Soft Touch) and La Cosecha Internacional, both resident vinyl DJs at DaDank Crypto Bar, each bringing a distinct but complementary approach rooted in soul, global dance music, and regional Mexican traditions. This session was recorded and mastered by D.L.R. Studios, preserving the raw energy, texture, and immediacy of the live performance.
Clifton (DJ Soft Touch) is a Long Beach–raised, Los Angeles–based DJ with over a decade of experience in Southern California nightlife. Known for his refined taste and genre-spanning sets, Clifton draws from funk, soul, Afrobeat, Bollywood, ’60s go-go, and beyond. He has held residencies at The Standard Hotel, Ace Hotel (Los Angeles and Palm Springs), and Broken Shaker, and spent 11 years as a core DJ at L.A.’s legendary Funky Sole dance party. His deep roots in the city’s soul community have led to opening slots for artists including Charles Bradley, Mayer Hawthorne, Adrian Younge, and Peanut Butter Wolf.
La Cosecha Internacional, founded by Andres Freyre, is inspired by quinceañera parties in the hills of Mexico and beyond, and rooted in partying as a form of immigrant resistance. Spinning all-Spanish, all-vinyl selections, La Cosecha focuses on norteñas, corridos, rancheras, cumbia, and banda classics, carrying these traditions forward through communal dance, shared memory, and intergenerational connection.
At its core, Tropisónico is more than a mix—it’s a vinyl-driven journey linking genres, cities, and stories across continents.
