Gudrun Gut’s impressive career includes a stint with the influential German post-punk band Malaria!, a long and storied solo career of her own making challenging electronic music, and time as founder and owner of the Monika label, which releases experimental music from the likes of Barbara Morgenstern and Natalie Beredze.

Her new album Vogelmixe: Heimatlieder aus Deutschland presents adventurous remixes of music curated as part of the Heimatlieder aus Deutschland project, repesenting various immigrant communities in Berlin.

In the program she presented a mix that spans esoteric krautrock, becalmed work from some of her favorite contemporary artist, cuts from Vogemixe, and a few works from her label, Monika.

She also spoke to us before the mix from Berlin about how music makes a changing world seem less scary, a brilliant mix she made for us in 2003, and why she loves Bandcamp.
