Soft Focus
04.02.25

Soft Focus is a monthly series by Lana Miller.
This month’s episode featured guest is Chelsea Jade.
Chelsea Jade parlayed her career as a jingle writer in Tāmaki Makaurau, New Zealand into a career as a pop songwriter in LA. She has released 2 records under her own name and has most recently directed music videos for Deafheaven and Night Party.
“I was briefly back in my hometown in New Zealand and came across a lot of great artists in the local scene like Womb, 花溪 Flowerstream and Phoebe Rings. They sound sublime alongside what I would consider personal classics, both old and new. Including one from Silicon – the architect of my all time favorite NZ record “Personal Computer”. I’d recommend imagining yourself on the brief domestic flight from Tāmaki Makaurau to Pōneke in late summer as the context for your listen. That is to say, a short trip in weightlessness!” – CJ
