Lumad Radio Hour

“Lets keep learning and standing our ground, defending our ancestral lands and defending our rights for the next generation here at Salugpongan, here at Salugpongan”
Salugpongan means “unity” and is the name of the lumad council in their area which helped found the salugpongan schools.
All 54 Salugpongan schools have been forcibly closed by the government. They were accused of terrorism, indoctrination, and for teaching the youth to rebel against the goverment despite thr fact they had gone thru all legal processes to run their schools and were accredited by the dept, of education. Many Salugpongan Schools were destroyed by the military and paramilitaries through violent force even before the official govt closure in 2019.
But in sanctuary/evacuation schools, the legacy, spirit, values, and curriculum of salugpongan schools live on.
