Akumen - Made to Move Radio

Maalbea (or Mallory Lei-Smith) is a queer artist making things with her hands and her heart in Los Angeles, CA. She hosts Lumad Radio Hour on the fourth Tuesday of every month, sharing the music and calls to action of Lumad (Indigenous to Mindinao, PH) women and children in collaboration with Liyang Network. They are moved by birds, and have had personal research on songbird populations in the Seattle area published by the Audubon Society. She couldn’t wait to share this bio so she could include that she is a 2021-22 Octavia E. Butler scholar at the Huntington Library of Research. You can find her visual works at holybeings.co
